I sadly don't have any of the higher tier OMD devices to test with, I read another post someone wrote about using their EM1mkii like this, but looking back it seems they used Olympus Capture in fullscreen, and then a screen capture on top of this (Discord's screen sharing in this case). Many of the capturing devices present themselves as a direct show device, consumable by most things that would look for a webcam. I mostly just wanted to make it abundantly clear that no cheap USB-C->HDMI adapter was going to do the job here, as there still seemed to be a few people with this idea in their head. On the other hand it looks like OBS can be persuaded to stream like a webcam so that Skype (and maybe other tools) can use it They (and I) want to use it with Zoom etc - i.e. It's not enoug to be able to record the stream.

You can however get access to the EM10-mkii video over WiFi, which is used for the phone apps, but is accessible with some free PC software too you might be able to find the URL for the stream from the camera and record it somehow (VLC perhaps? maybe OBS?)īut once more. Or for those cameras, we would not need a capture device to use them as a webcam, So I am unconvinced that those cameras do provide it "like a webcam". The cameras that work with Olympus Capture provide the digital video stream over the USB interface like a webcam (or like the capture device would do), but the EM10-mkii does not support this. One requires some other capturing software on the PC, the other presents things in a way directly consumable by Skype, Zoom etc.

You need a capture card like the Elgato device to input HDMI video into a computer.įrom my googling there are two types of these. There are no USB-C or Thunderbolt ports which take HDMI input. USB-C and Thunderbolt define alternate modes for displayport/HDMI, but these are _only_ for display output. I don't have an EM10.2 or Olympus Capture. So, all that's really necessary is deciding what software to use for playback.Īnyway, it seems that the EM10.2 is capable of connecting to a computer for "Live Display" of video using Olympus Capture. Older Macs with Thunderbolt 1 or 2 ports could do the same. The USB-C ports in current Macs… some of which double as Thunderbolt 3 ports and are even more capable… support all kinds of throughput… input and output. I was talking about USB-C ports, not HDMI, which are as limited as you say. Most hdmi ports on computers are designed to output a video signal, not import one, so can't accept the signal from the camera, hence the need for dongles. It is possible to output video from the camera's hdmi port but you need something to accept its hdmi input, process it, and then export it as a webcast. No version of the E-M10 supports tethering.īut it still may be possible to output video with the micro HDMI port. There are all sorts of tutorials about tethering, even on the Olympus site.

You may need to find out which applications support it. If the EM10 supports tethering and you have the correct cables, then it should work. I couldn't find any that captured video at that price. Really? That's cool, but I thought those were for HDMI out. USB-C to HDMI adaptors are under $20 on Amazon. If it’s up to date and has USB-C or Thunderbolt 2 or 3 ports, then a simple adaptor from HDMI to any of those ports would suffice. Otherwise you will have to add some delay in software at the computer.

If you can get good audio to the camera mic in, you can eliminate any lag issues and mismatch of audio and video timing going to the computer, if you live stream. I would hold off for a few weeks if possible. There is very high demand right now for the convertors/adapters so finding an adapter at a reasonable price is going to be a challenge. If not recording, there is no time limit, pretty sure. If you are recording in camera you will have the 30 min time limit.
#Como usar badcopy pro 1080p#
In 1080p you won't have any overheating of the camera. There are others, but I only have experience with the ElGato device which works fine on several Olympus camera bodies. I use a 1080p ElGato Camlink device to to that. If your 10ii has an HDMI out port and an option for clean video out in the menu, then you can use the 10ii exactly like a webcam IF you add a small device between the camera and computer to convert the HDMI out of the camera to USB in on the computer.
